rahenna

So what's a Rahenna anyway? It's actually three things - my online nickname, my website, and a novel I plan to write one of these days. After I finish the other one that's been eating my brains for the last four five years.

the person

Well, that's me. By the way, it's pronounced rah-hey-nuh - if it sounds like "henna" the dye, you're saying it wrong. I'm pretty sure about 95% of the people who know me online say it wrong. Oh well, at least I don't have to hear them say it.

If you want to know more about me, I'm always looking for new friends on LiveJournal.

the site

You are here! The domain itself is pretty bare, as most of my projects live on other domains. I'm not really sure why I have so many... seems pretty wasteful. I've had several others that have been allowed to expire, so it could be worse!

I've tried to sort things by domain, each with its own theme.

the story

The meaning of Rahenna in the world of the unwritten novel is threefold - first, it's the name of a city; second, the name of a family; and third, a title indicating a special noble rank. Hereditary, naturally, through the family with the name. And of course, they rule over the city of Rahenna. Well, rule over is a little harsh, as the Rahenna is more of a guide than a king or dictator.

The city is the crown jewel of the country, perched on a cliff between sea and desert. Recent advances in technology have given rise to self-powered vehicles and lights that need no fuel. I guess it's a little bit steampunk. At any rate, the city's wealth exists in sharp contrast with the lifestyles of the nomadic peoples of the desert and the harsh lives of those who live in the surrounding mountains.

The family's early history has been lost over time due to fading memory, helped by wildfires that have consumed much of the city in the past. The lack of concrete information has elevated the family's founder, the first Rahenna, to legendary status in the minds of the people.

But the true story is about to be revealed. (Eventually. :p)
